David Eric Thackeray is a Consultant to Long Saad Woodbridge Lawyers, bringing over 30 years’ experience in commercial insolvency, restructuring and complex dispute resolution. He is also the Principal of Thackeray Legal.
Admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 1993, he advises companies, directors, creditors and insolvency practitioners in situations of financial distress and corporate recovery. His experience spans both formal insolvency processes and informal restructuring solutions, with particular depth in advising directors on their duties during periods of financial difficulty.
Before establishing Thackeray Legal in 2017, David held senior roles at Long Saad Woodbridge and its predecessor firms, starting in the Clinch Neville Long era and continuing through its subsequent iterations, building deep expertise across insolvency, commercial litigation and corporate advisory work.
His approach is practical and commercially focused, with an emphasis on resolving issues early and positioning clients to retain control wherever possible. He is frequently engaged in matters where legal strategy must align closely with commercial reality, particularly in financially distressed or time-critical environments.
David works closely with insolvency practitioners, accountants, financiers and business advisers to deliver outcomes that are both legally sound and commercially workable.
